Yongin City Announces Living Wage of 10,820 Won for Next Year
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province has finalized the living wage for next year, applied to fixed-term workers affiliated with the city hall, at 10,820 KRW.
This amount is 18.1% (1,660 KRW) higher than next year's statutory minimum wage of 9,160 KRW, and 5.1% (530 KRW) higher than this year's living wage of 10,290 KRW.
When converted to a monthly salary based on 209 working hours per month, it amounts to 2.26 million KRW, meaning these workers will receive 110,000 KRW more than this year.
A total of 410 workers, including city-affiliated workers on short-term contracts and workers affiliated with city-invested and supported institutions, will receive the increased living wage starting January 1 next year.
Workers in simple labor public work projects, regional community job projects, and those receiving wages above the living wage through national and provincial subsidies are excluded.
The living wage refers to the wage set by each local government that comprehensively considers workers' housing, education, and cultural expenses, allowing them to maintain dignity as human beings and live decently.
