Chairman Kim Yong-jip and other council members announced a plea titled "We hope the first car of the Gwangju-type job model, Casper, becomes a global bestseller" at the council press room that afternoon.
They said, "GGM, born from beautiful concessions and cooperation between labor and management, has taken its first step."
They added, "Despite the unfavorable conditions of the region, we proudly produce the first car," and urged, "Please show great interest in Casper, which has just begun to take its first steps."
Regarding Hyundai Motor Company, they said, "Please devote all efforts to overseas marketing," and raised their voices, saying, "Measures must be devised to ensure that future vehicle production diversifies and that the company is not left out of eco-friendly vehicle production."
They evaluated that GGM is also making a significant contribution to national balanced development.
The council members explained, "Companies do not want to leave the metropolitan area, where it is easy to recruit talent and infrastructure is good," and "Under these difficult conditions, GGM established a complete vehicle factory in Gwangju for the first time in 23 years."
They continued, "Since 2019, 539 regular employees have been newly hired, and indirect employment in related companies is expected to create about 10,000 jobs," praising the achievement.
