Yoon Bong-geun Appointed as Vice Chairman of the Policy Committee of the Democratic Party Central Committee and Member of the National Communication Committee
"We Will Strive to Develop Party Policies Related to Overcoming COVID-19 and Livelihood Issues"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Yoon Bong-geun, a member of the National Balanced Development Committee's Public Communication Committee under the President (former Chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council), was recently appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Policy Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea Central Party.
The Policy Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea is a core executive body responsible for drafting and reviewing the party's policies. It plays a role in reviewing to ensure smooth implementation of government national tasks and policy development.
It has the authority to investigate, research, review, and draft the party's platform and basic policies, review bills submitted to the National Assembly such as legislation, examine matters for consultation between the party and government policies, and propose alternatives.
Commissioner Yoon Bong-geun said, "I bear a heavy responsibility in taking on the important role of Vice Chairman of the ruling party's Policy Committee," adding, "I will do my best to practically realize local decentralization as well as various national policies, and to ensure that pending projects in the Gwangju area are reflected in government and ruling party policies."
He continued, "Together with the party, I will devote all my efforts to discovering various livelihood policies and creating alternatives for the citizens of Gwangju and the public who are struggling due to COVID-19."
Meanwhile, Commissioner Yoon Bong-geun has worked hard for the development of local autonomy and educational autonomy as the former Chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council, former Chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan Education Committee, and former Chairman of the National Association of City and Provincial Councils.
Earlier this year, he was appointed as a Public Communication Committee member of the National Balanced Development Committee under the President and as a member of the Administrative Coordination Committee of the Prime Minister's Office, deeply engaging in central administration and actively working across various fields.
He is also serving as Vice Chairman and Executive Committee member of the Democratic Party Gwangju City Party (Chairman Song Gap-seok), as a Standing Advisor and Operating Committee member of the Gwangsan-gu (Gap) Regional Committee (Chairman Lee Yong-bin), and during the last general election, he served as the Standing Election Countermeasures Committee Chairman for the Democratic Party candidate Lee Yong-bin (Democratic Party spokesperson) in Gwangsan-gu (Gap), Gwangju.
