Gwangju Bank Awards 130 Million Won in Scholarships to Local Talents
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Bank (President Song Jong-wook) recently held a scholarship certificate awarding ceremony for the Gwangju Bank Scholarship Foundation at its headquarters on the 7th, attended by Song Jong-wook, President of Gwangju Bank, and Kim Yang-gyun, Chairman of the Gwangju Bank Scholarship Foundation.
Gwangju Bank established the Gwangju Bank Scholarship Foundation as a foundation corporation in 1981 and has provided scholarships worth a total of 3.5 billion KRW to over 4,000 local scholarship students over the past 40 years.
At this scholarship certificate awarding ceremony, the Gwangju Bank Scholarship Foundation selected 104 students from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions who were recommended by high schools, universities, local governments, and other institutions, based on excellent academic performance and exemplary conduct, and awarded a total of 130 million KRW in scholarships.
In compliance with COVID-19 social distancing and quarantine guidelines, only representative scholarship students by school and grade attended the ceremony.
Song Jong-wook, President of Gwangju Bank, said, "Despite the challenging academic schedule due to COVID-19, we will take the lead as the representative bank of Gwangju and Jeonnam to nurture local talent so that local youth and young adults who are dedicated to their studies can grow into key talents leading our region."
