Gwangyang Police Crack Down on Illegal Modifications and Violations of Two-Wheeled Vehicles
Maximizing Effectiveness Through Joint Crackdown by Related Agencies
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] As delivery companies thrive due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the operation of two-wheeled vehicles increases, citizens are increasingly complaining about illegal traffic violations related to these vehicles.
On the 3rd, the Gwangyang Police Station in Jeonnam announced on the 6th that it conducted a surprise crackdown on illegal modifications of two-wheeled vehicles, muffler alterations, and traffic violations in cooperation with TS Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Gwangyang City Hall's Traffic and Environment Departments.
The joint crackdown was carried out to address the surge in complaints caused by illegal operations such as loud noise from muffler modifications, installation of uncertified lighting, additional horns, crossing the center line and sidewalks threatening other drivers and pedestrians, and signal violations.
The crackdown involved unannounced visits to seven delivery agencies in the jurisdiction, inspecting over 50 two-wheeled vehicles one by one.
Among these, 32 cases were detected, including 20 cases of uncertified lighting installation, 9 cases of illegal tuning, and 1 case of excessive noise. Minor issues were addressed on-site with owners and drivers, while legal measures are being considered for actions that could cause accidents.
