Jinju City, 3rd Phase Support for Installing Emission Reduction Devices on Old Diesel Vehicles
400 Units in the Second Half, Worth 1.52 Billion KRW, Applications Open from the 9th
Total Support of 7.6 Billion KRW for 2,273 Units This Year, Largest Scale in the Province
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 6th that it will additionally implement the third phase of the support project for attaching diesel particulate filters (DPF) to old diesel vehicles.
This project aims to reduce particulate matter emitted from old diesel vehicles to improve air pollution caused by fine dust. The third phase of the support project will provide 1.52 billion KRW for 400 vehicles.
The support targets grade 5 emission diesel vehicles, with support ranging from approximately 2.9 million KRW to 6.3 million KRW per vehicle depending on the size of the device (small, medium, large). Applicants will bear about 280,000 KRW to 650,000 KRW, which is about 30% less than last year.
The application period is from the 8th to the 17th. Vehicle owners wishing to apply can visit the Environmental Management Division of City Hall, or submit their application by mail (registered mail) or online (Automobile Emission Grade System website).
Meanwhile, in the first and second phases of this year, the city supported the installation of DPFs on 1,873 old diesel vehicles with a budget of 6.1 billion KRW.
Including the budget for the third phase, the total support scale for this year is 7.6 billion KRW for 2,273 vehicles, which is six times larger than last year’s support of 1.3 billion KRW for 273 vehicles, making it the largest scale in the province.

A city official stated, “By supporting the installation of diesel particulate filters on old diesel vehicles that emit a large amount of air pollutants, we aim to reduce the economic burden on citizens and businesses and contribute to improving urban air quality, so that citizens can live in a clean and pleasant environment.”
