18-Time Deliberate Traffic Accident Gang Sent to Prosecution at Roundabout in Front of Changwon City Hall
Suspected of Intentionally Causing a Traffic Accident to Fraudulently Obtain Insurance Money Worth 180 Million Won
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] The Changwon Western Police Station in Gyeongnam announced on the 6th that it has arrested three people, including Mr. A, and booked 25 others without detention on charges of deliberately causing traffic accidents to claim insurance money worth 180 million won (violation of the Special Act on the Prevention of Insurance Fraud), and sent them to the prosecution.
Mr. A and his associates, who know each other, are accused of deliberately causing traffic accidents around Changwon from mid-December 2018 to December 2020 to claim insurance money totaling 180 million won.
They deliberately caused 18 traffic accidents by selecting vehicles violating traffic regulations, such as colliding with cars that changed lanes abruptly at the roundabout in front of Changwon City Hall.
The group prearranged the methods of causing accidents and the insurance processing procedures, divided roles, received treatment at hospitals where hospitalization was easy, and shared the insurance money once it was paid out.
