Food Industry Focuses on Convenient Nutritional Food and Beverages Ahead of Autumn Seasonal Change
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] As autumn approaches, food and beverages that can help manage health during seasonal changes and replenish energy are gaining attention. In response, the food industry has launched a variety of products, ranging from drinks that allow easy nutrition supplementation anytime and anywhere, to products using healthy superfoods or plant-based ingredients, as well as convenient healthy ready-to-eat meals.
According to the industry on the 5th, Jeong Food’s two types of ‘Greenvia Protein Meal’ are high-protein balanced nutritional meals designed to help busy modern people easily consume protein, which is often lacking in daily life. The two variants include 'Greenvia Protein Meal Almond and Walnut,' which offers the flavor of nuts, and 'Greenvia Protein Meal Black Sesame,' which contains the rich and savory taste of black sesame. The products contain 18g of protein, accounting for 33% of the recommended daily intake for adults, and blend animal and plant proteins such as soy protein and casein protein, which have different digestion and absorption rates, to continuously supply amino acids to the body. They also provide a well-balanced mix of essential nutrients necessary for our body, including 8 essential amino acids, 13 types of vitamins, 8 minerals, and 6g of dietary fiber.
Products utilizing superfoods or plant-based ingredients are also emerging one after another. Recently, Orion’s convenient meal replacement brand Market O Nature launched ‘Oh! Granola Dige,’ made by processing five grains including domestic rice, oats, and rye. ‘Oh! Granola Dige’ is a collaboration product between the convenient meal replacement ‘Oh! Granola’ and the steady seller ‘Dige.’ It retains the savory taste and nutrition of whole wheat, the main ingredient of Dige, while adding the crispy texture of granola. The product contains mini Dige cookies shaped like Dige and dietary fiber balls, and consuming 50g of the product satisfies 4g of dietary fiber, equivalent to one banana.
Lotte Confectionery introduced the ‘V-Bread’ brand of plant-based bread made with 100% plant-based ingredients. Instead of animal ingredients such as milk, butter, and eggs, the product uses plant-based raw materials, resulting in a mild taste. The ‘V-Bread’ brand will operate under two concepts: ‘Healthy Table’ and ‘Healthy Appetite.’ The ‘Focaccia Bread,’ which emphasizes a mild taste using extra virgin olive oil, and the ‘Peanut Muffin,’ containing savory crushed peanuts, were first introduced through Lotte Confectionery’s official online mall. Future releases will include ‘Mini Oat Bread’ made with oatmeal and ‘Rice Brownie’ made with soy milk and domestic rice flour.
Ready-to-eat meals that combine taste, convenience, and health are also popular. Recently, Pulmuone launched two types of ‘One Meal Tofu Noodles,’ which are easy to eat by topping high-protein tofu noodles with a special plant-based sauce. The products come in ‘Fresh Basil Pasta’ and ‘Sweet and Sour Kimchi Relish’ flavors. After draining the tofu noodle water, consumers simply mix the noodles with the included sauce, reducing the hassle of traditional tofu noodles and enhancing convenience. ‘One Meal Tofu Noodles Fresh Basil Pasta’ features a green fresh basil sauce with nut toppings, offering a fragrant and savory flavor, while ‘One Meal Tofu Noodles Sweet and Sour Kimchi Relish’ is characterized by vegan kimchi without salted seafood, enhanced with the flavors of tomato and sriracha sauce.
CJ CheilJedang introduced the boneless grilled fish home meal replacement ‘Bibigo Boneless Grilled Fish.’ The newly launched products include ‘Boneless Grilled Mackerel’ and ‘Boneless Grilled Spanish Mackerel.’ Based on the results of CJ CheilJedang’s ‘Grilled Fish Consumption Behavior Survey,’ the company actively reflected consumer feedback from households with preschool children, who expressed a desire to feed their children fish protein but were reluctant to purchase due to the difficulty of handling bones and fish spines. The products can be conveniently prepared in the microwave for just one minute, with all large bones and small spines removed, enhancing ease of consumption and reducing food waste concerns.
