Diesel Price Drops by 1.5 Won to 1437.9 Won
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Gasoline prices at gas stations nationwide have fallen for three consecutive weeks.
According to Opinet, the oil price information service of the Korea National Oil Corporation, the retail price of gasoline at gas stations nationwide in the first week of September recorded 1,643.4 KRW per liter, down 1.3 KRW from the previous week.
By region, Seoul, the highest-priced area, saw a decrease of 1.1 KRW to 1,727.3 KRW per liter compared to the previous week. Daegu, the lowest-priced area, dropped 1.5 KRW to 1,619.7 KRW per liter.
By brand, GS Caltex was the most expensive at 1,651.4 KRW per liter, while Altteul Gas Stations were the cheapest at 1,619.4 KRW per liter.
Diesel prices also fell by 1.5 KRW from the previous week, recording 1,437.9 KRW per liter.
International oil prices rose slightly again last week. The average price of Dubai crude, the benchmark for crude oil imported into Korea, rose $1.5 to $70.6 per barrel compared to the previous week. International gasoline prices increased by $1.0 to $78.6.

The Korea National Oil Corporation explained, "The upward trend is due to factors such as hurricane damage in the United States, a weak dollar, a decrease in U.S. crude oil inventories, and OPEC+'s continued outlook for oil demand."
