[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] As the Democratic Party of Korea's 20th presidential election candidate primary kicked off starting in the Chungcheong region, the campaign advisory group for candidate Lee Jae-myung in Jeonnam, the most fiercely contested among the 17 cities and provinces, officially launched under the leadership of Jang Man-chae.
The Jeonnam regional advisory group for candidate Lee Jae-myung announced on the 3rd that they have begun full-scale activities centered on activists by 22 cities and counties and by professional sectors in Jeonnam, where the number of party members with voting rights is the highest nationwide, to gain an early advantage.
On the day, Jang Man-chae, former Jeonnam Superintendent of Education and head of the Jeonnam regional advisory group, held a certificate awarding ceremony for the western Jeonnam advisory group in Namak, Muan County, where the Jeonnam Provincial Office is located.
About 200 people were included in the western region advisory group, but only a minimal number attended the certificate awarding ceremony in accordance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines, during which they evaluated past achievements and shared future schedules and plans.
Following this, Jang Man-chae plans to hold certificate awarding ceremonies for the eastern and central region advisory groups in Suncheon on the 6th and Gangjin on the 7th.
The Jeonnam regional advisory group for candidate Lee Jae-myung is composed of activists from various fields across 22 cities and counties, and demonstrated organizational strength by encouraging tens of thousands of residents to register as party members with voting rights during the Democratic Party's first and second rounds of voter recruitment.
Going forward, the Jeonnam regional advisory group will focus on promoting candidate Lee Jae-myung in line with the official primary election schedule by city and province, and will proceed with declarations of support from expert groups by professional sectors.
At the certificate awarding ceremony, Jang Man-chae, head of the Jeonnam regional advisory group, said, “The Great Harmony World and Basic Income advocated by candidate Lee Jae-myung represent an advanced, inclusive society where all people are equal and their values respected,” adding, “Let us work together to build a world based on the universal value of Lee Jae-myung’s principle of ‘Yukgangbuyak’ (抑强扶弱), which means suppressing the strong and supporting the weak.”
He especially expressed his determination by stating, “Since Jeonnam has the highest number of Democratic Party members with voting rights nationwide, let us all join together with the mindset of meeting every Jeonnam resident to promote candidate Lee Jae-myung’s victory.”
