On the 3rd, Minister Moon held a luncheon meeting with the Energy Citizens' Coalition to discuss ways for the government and civic groups to collaborate and lead public participation for carbon neutrality by 2050.
At the meeting, Kim Yeon-hwa, co-representative of the Energy Citizens' Coalition, said, "We agree that active public participation in energy saving is a key task in achieving carbon neutrality," adding, "The Energy Citizens' Coalition is promoting various activities to communicate with the public, such as the 'Energy Day (August 22)' event, and will continue to take the lead in forming a nationwide consensus on carbon neutrality in cooperation with the government."

In response, Minister Moon said, "The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy is currently working to spread a culture of energy saving for carbon neutrality through initiatives such as the 'Social Agreement for Energy Saving' held in June this year, involving distribution companies, franchise businesses, and civic groups," and added, "We will continue to promote various activities to encourage small but important daily energy-saving practices, such as challenges using the metaverse and SNS, and cashback programs linked to electricity saving."
