Japanese Forced Labor Victims Withdraw Application to Seize 'Mitsubishi Bonds'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Families of victims of forced labor under Japanese colonial rule have withdrawn their seizure application on domestic bonds of the war criminal company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
According to the legal community on the 2nd, the legal representatives of the forced labor victims submitted an application for seizure cancellation and waiver of collection to the Anyang branch of the Suwon District Court. The representatives explained, "After reviewing the supporting documents, we judged that the claims of LS Mtron were consistent with the facts," adding, "We submitted a withdrawal letter to the court and were notified that the enforcement case procedure was terminated and the seizure was lifted."
Earlier, the victims' families confirmed that "Mitsubishi had been conducting transactions with the domestic company LS Mtron Co., Ltd." and applied to the court for seizure of the payment claims for goods in early last month. The court accepted the application and issued an order for seizure and collection on payment claims worth approximately 850 million KRW.

LS Mtron stated in a written statement submitted to the court, "We have been transacting not with Mitsubishi but with its subsidiary Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engine System," and "There are no transactions with Mitsubishi and therefore no debt exists."
