Director of Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office Conducts Comprehensive Inspection of Regional Waterworks in Response to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office visited the Korea Water Resources Corporation's Water Comprehensive Situation Room on the 2nd to conduct an on-site inspection of the COVID-19 emergency response plan for the metropolitan water supply system, including alternative personnel arrangements and emergency system operation measures.
This inspection was carried out to prevent abnormal operations in advance in case of emergencies such as confirmed COVID-19 cases among water treatment plant operators amid the ongoing increase in confirmed cases.
The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office is continuously managing the COVID-19 emergency response situation at water treatment plants and has established and is operating a support system for rapid response.
They maintain a 24-hour emergency contact system with water treatment plants in the jurisdiction, establish emergency response plans for each plant, and regularly check these plans.
Additionally, to prepare for supply instability due to the spread of COVID-19, they encourage the prior securing of essential materials such as water treatment chemicals and share emergency contact networks including contacts for maintenance companies and personnel in case of equipment malfunctions.
Furthermore, they have formed and are operating an emergency support team related to COVID-19 in cooperation with the Yeong and Seomyu Water Supply Support Center (Korea Water Resources Corporation) to ensure no difficulties in local water supply operations.
Ryu Yeon-gi, head of the Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office, urged, "Metropolitan water supply workers must strictly adhere to quarantine rules to prevent COVID-19 infection, and in case of confirmed cases, respond appropriately and promptly operate the emergency support team."
