Wando-gun to Distribute COVID-19 Coexistence National Support Fund to Over 47,000 People
Payment of 250,000 KRW per person, applications accepted from the 6th of this month to the 29th of next month
[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyungpil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 2nd that it will accept applications for the COVID-19 coexistence national support fund, providing 250,000 KRW per person to stabilize the lives of residents suffering from the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, from the 6th of this month until the 29th of next month.
The number of recipients eligible for the national support fund in Wando-gun is approximately 47,489 people (about 96% of the total population), and the total support amount is 12 billion KRW.
The eligibility criteria are households with a combined health insurance premium amount below the bottom 80% as of June this year. Special criteria apply to dual-income and single-person households, and high-asset individuals are excluded from eligibility.
For single-person households, the threshold is 170,000 KRW or less; for dual-income two-person households, workplace subscribers are eligible if the amount is 250,000 KRW or less, and regional subscribers if 280,000 KRW or less.
Eligibility can be checked starting from the 6th via credit card company websites/apps, the National Health Insurance Corporation website, the Local Love Gift Certificate app (local gift certificate chak), Kakao app, and others.
Eligible recipients can choose to apply for either credit/check card recharge funds or Wando Love Gift Certificates (card type or paper type).
Recharge funds for credit/check cards can be applied for online through the card company’s website or app in the applicant’s name starting from the 6th, and from the 13th, in-person applications can be made at banks linked to the card.
Recharge occurs the day after the application, and the recharged support funds are distinguished from existing card points; the amount used is automatically deducted from the card billing amount.
Those wishing to receive Wando Love Gift Certificates (paper type) can apply in person at the eup/myeon office of their registered address starting from the 13th.
Unlike last year’s ‘nationwide disaster support fund,’ the national support fund can be applied for individually by adults born before December 31, 2002, under their own name, and minor children can receive the fund through the head of household at the same address.
The support funds can be used except at certain businesses such as department stores, large marts, entertainment and gambling establishments, and must be used by December 31 to revitalize the local economy; unused amounts will be reclaimed.
A county official said, “We will promptly and smoothly provide support funds to residents struggling due to COVID-19, and we hope that the use of the funds will invigorate the local economy.”
