Hamyang County announced on the 2nd that it has completed the four-lane expansion project for the 740m section from Indanggyo Bridge to the intercity bus terminal, one of the three sections of the National Route 24 expansion project, and recently opened it ahead of schedule.
This section is a major traffic route of National Route 24 connecting the intercity bus terminal and Jirisan Hamyang Market, which are frequently used by residents, as well as leading to the nearby Namwon City, making it a high-traffic area.
Hamyang County invested 1.8 billion KRW in this section, which had been used as an off-street parking lot, and started the project in February last year, expanding it to four lanes this time.
Along with this, the 0.3 km single section expansion and paving project from Indanggyo Bridge to Geomyeon Entrance on National Route 24 is also underway, with a total project cost of 3.2 billion KRW, aiming for completion and opening in September 2021.
Additionally, the four-lane expansion project from the intercity bus terminal to Hanwoo Plaza is a bottleneck expansion and paving project (1.2 km) on National Route 24, being implemented by Gyeongnam Province. This project, with a budget of 10 billion KRW, is scheduled for completion by the end of next year.
Hamyang County expects that once these three expansion and paving projects passing through Hamyang city are completed, the traffic volume of vehicles passing through the downtown area will be greatly dispersed, providing a comfortable road environment.
