LG Auto Lighting Subsidiary ZKW Doubles Size of Mexico Factory

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] ZKW, an Austrian subsidiary of LG Electronics specializing in automotive lighting, announced on the 2nd that it will more than double the size of its factory site in Mexico to expand its production line.
ZKW's Silao plant in Mexico, which has been manufacturing premium lighting systems since 2016, will increase its factory site by 21,000㎡ to have a total production area of 35,000㎡. ZKW also plans to secure 600 new employees at the Mexico plant, bringing the total workforce to 1,600.
The ZKW Mexico plant produces headlamps supplied to BMW, Ford, Freightliner, General Motors (GM), Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo. With this expansion, the annual production volume is expected to reach 2.2 million units.

ZKW stated, "The factory expansion construction method adopts an eco-friendly approach, and we will significantly increase production volume while securing additional competitiveness in design, engineering, and research and development."
