Hyundai Motor's US Sales Down 4% Due to Semiconductor Supply Shortage
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Hyundai Motor's sales volume in the United States slightly decreased last month.
Hyundai Motor America (HMA) announced on the 1st (local time) that the sales volume in August recorded 56,200 units, a 4% decrease compared to the same month last year.
Hyundai had achieved record sales for five consecutive months in the U.S. market starting from March. However, in August, the global semiconductor supply shortage reportedly impacted sales again.
Randy Parker, Senior Vice President of Sales at HMA, stated that "the shortage of semiconductor chips along with inventory levels has emerged as a challenge."
Kia also experienced a decline in sales due to the semiconductor chip shortage.
