Jeonnam Police Sign Agreement to Strengthen Coastal Security Cooperation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 1st that it signed a "Cooperation Agreement for Strengthening Coastal Surveillance" with the captain of a private fishing vessel from Gageodo on the 31st of last month.
This cooperation agreement includes establishing an emergency contact network and supporting fishing vessels and other equipment within the scope that does not interfere with fishing operations during coastal terrain patrols and Gageo Guard Unit's own training, to ensure smooth information exchange and situation handling in case of incidents such as illegal immigration or suspicious vessels appearing at sea.
Additionally, the Gageo Guard Unit decided to actively support improving the quality of life by opening the currently operated fitness center to fishermen.
Kim Kigap, commander of the Gageo Guard Unit, said, "There are limitations to monitoring illegal immigration and suspicious vessels visually, and the need to establish an emergency contact network led to the promotion of this cooperation agreement."
