2 Hours Ago, Ordered Baked Bread at Emart via SSG.com Sseuk Delivery... SSG.com Pilot Operation
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] SSG.com is delivering freshly baked bread made early in the morning through its same-day delivery service 'Sseuk Delivery,' which allows customers to specify the departure time from Emart, going beyond just dawn delivery.
SSG.com announced on the 1st that starting from the 2nd, it will pilot a service where bakery products developed by Shinsegae Food, such as sliced bread, croissants, scones, and bagels, are baked directly at 11 Emart stores and delivered to customers via same-day Sseuk Delivery. To differentiate from mass-produced bread made in factories and emphasize the fresh image of "freshly baked bread," a new brand called "Saebyeokppang" (Dawn Bread) was also created.
To this end, Emart will produce a total of 10 types of Saebyeokppang directly at its bakery corners every day starting from 7 a.m. Representative products include "Low-temperature fermented fresh sliced bread," "Buckwheat walnut sliced bread," and "Blueberry pecan and cheese scone." Prices are 4,000 KRW, 4,500 KRW, and 3,000 KRW respectively. Other items include "Olive Baltazar," a healthy bread with olives, "Premium Butter Croissant" made with Isigny butter, "Premium Pain au Chocolat" enriched with Belgian chocolate, as well as "Double Cheese Bagel," "Rose Glutinous Rice Ball (5 pieces)," and "Bacon Sausage Danish."
Unlike generally distributed frozen bread, Saebyeokppang is produced using the "Order to Bake" method, where dough is pre-mixed and cold-fermented at Emart bakery corners, and baking starts in the oven only after the customer places an order. The quantity made on the day is sold out the same day, and any leftovers are discarded.
The freshly made Saebyeokppang is collected by SSG.com and the first delivery starts from 9 a.m. Calculated from the time the bread is produced, delivery can be completed within as fast as two hours. This allows customers to enjoy the freshest bread at their desired time even when ordering online.
During the pilot operation period, customers living in the Sseuk Delivery areas of Emart Jayang, Garden Five, Myeongil, Sangbong, Gojan, Osan, Dongincheon, Wolbae, Ulsan, Cheongju, and Gwangsan stores can purchase Saebyeokppang.
Since opening its third online store "NE.O" in Gimpo in December 2019, SSG.com has been producing bread directly at its baking center and selling it through dawn delivery. In addition, it pursues an "ultra-fresh" strategy by sourcing fresh products directly from production areas nationwide and immediately stocking agricultural products auctioned the same day at Garak Market into NE.O for delivery to customers.
