Baskin-Robbins Launches September Flavor of the Month 'Chaltteok Kongtteok'
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Baskin-Robbins announced on the 1st that it will release the September Flavor of the Month, "Chaltteok Kongtteok" ice cream, which captures the traditional taste, in celebration of the upcoming Chuseok holiday.
Chaltteok Kongtteok uses Injeolmi as the main ingredient. It is an upgraded version of the popular "Jjon Tteok Gung Hap," known for its savory flavor, offering a completely different taste and texture by adding chewy Injeolmi rice cake and black sesame balls as toppings.
Chaltteok Kongtteok consists of "Chaltteok Ice Cream" and "Konggomul Ice Cream," which have a savory grain flavor, embedded with chewy "Injeolmi Rice Cake Dice" and crispy "Black Sesame Balls." The combination of ice cream and traditional ingredients targets the taste preferences of "Halmaennial" (a blend of Halmeoni, meaning grandmother, and millennial).
The Chaltteok Kongtteok cake features a soft white cake sheet layered with sweet condensed soy cream and Chaltteok Kongtteok ice cream, topped generously with rice cakes and roasted soybean powder. Its cheerful appearance resembles a neatly piled stack of Injeolmi rice cakes, catching the eye.
