View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] On the 31st, heavy rain is falling in the Seoul metropolitan area and other regions, and strong and heavy rain is expected in the central region until tomorrow afternoon.
The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heavy rain advisory at 4 p.m. for the Seoul metropolitan area, northern Chungnam, and parts of central Gangwon Yeongseo. Heavy rain of about 15mm per hour is falling in the Seoul metropolitan area and parts of Gangwon Yeongseo, while about 5mm per hour rain is falling in the Chungcheong and Gyeongsang regions.
From midnight to 4 p.m. today, the accumulated rainfall at major points was 60mm at Yeongjongdo, 50.5mm at the Korea Meteorological Administration in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, 50.1mm in Incheon, 46.5mm in Bucheon, 27.0mm in Palbong-ri, Hongcheon, Gangwon, 11.5mm in Cheongil-myeon, Hoengseong, 11.0mm at Bukgyeokryeolbido, Taean, Chungnam, and 8.5mm in Songbaek-ri, Miryang, Gyeongnam.
Between tonight and early tomorrow morning, very heavy rain of 50 to 70mm per hour accompanied by gusts and thunder and lightning is expected mainly in the central region.
In the Chungcheong region, more than 250mm of rain is expected until tomorrow, and very heavy rain of more than 200mm is expected in the southern Seoul metropolitan area, southern Gangwon, and northern Gyeongbuk, which may lead to an expansion of the heavy rain advisory or an upgrade to a heavy rain warning.
The expected rainfall amounts are 5 to 150mm in the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, Jeonbuk, Gyeongbuk region, and the five western islands (with more than 250mm in parts of Chungcheong, and more than 200mm in the southern Seoul metropolitan area, southern Gangwon, and northern Gyeongbuk), 20 to 80mm in the Jeonnam region, Gyeongnam region, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo, and 5 to 30mm in Jeju Island.
Rain will gradually stop from noon on September 1 in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon Yeongseo, and Chungnam region, and from night in Chungbuk and Jeolla regions. Many areas in the southern region are expected to experience a lull between tonight and tomorrow morning.

With the rain, daytime temperatures will remain between 23 and 27 degrees Celsius in most parts of the country, but some areas in Jeonnam, Gyeongnam, and Jeju Island may rise above 30 degrees. On September 1, the morning low temperatures by region are expected to be between 17 and 25 degrees, and the daytime highs between 21 and 30 degrees Celsius.
