Statistics Korea Releases Statistics on New Southern and New Northern Regions
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] On the 31st, Statistics Korea announced that it held a working meeting for the "Development of New Southern and New Northern Statistics" at the Seoul Banking Hall, together with the Northern Economic Cooperation Committee, the New Southern Policy Special Committee, and private experts.
Through this working meeting, Statistics Korea introduced a new menu in KOSIS called "New Southern and New Northern Statistics." This is a one-stop menu that separately collects statistics related to the New Southern and New Northern regions scattered across KOSIS (International Statistics), providing 116 New Southern statistics and 120 New Northern statistics items.

In this regard, Ryu Geun-gwan, Commissioner of Statistics Korea, stated, "This 'New Southern and New Northern Statistics' will not only support the government's policy formulation by building and servicing a portal database of statistics for the New Southern (11 countries) and New Northern (14 countries) regions, but also actively respond to private sector statistical demands by providing basic data for understanding the business environment."
