Chosun University Successfully Concludes IT-Bio Convergence International Academic Conference

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] The IT-Bio Convergence System Agricultural Education and Research Group, consisting of Chosun University, Chonnam National University, and Suncheon National University, successfully concluded the 'IT-Bio Convergence International Academic Conference' aimed at promoting the convergence of IT and bio technologies.
According to Chosun University on the 30th, the conference held on the 27th was conducted with the purpose of promoting the convergence of IT and bio technologies and applying IT, robotics, and artificial intelligence technologies to smart farms.
This academic conference was the second international conference hosted by the IT-Bio Convergence System Agricultural Education and Research Group, which is carrying out the Ministry of Education's BK-21 Four (4th phase Brain Korea 21) project, with over 100 participants from universities, professors, research institutes, and companies.
Speakers included 14 overseas researchers from institutions such as the University of Oxford in the UK, Purdue University, Carnegie Mellon University, Oregon Institute of Technology in the US, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Ritsumeikan University in Japan, University of Girona in Spain, University of Pisa in Italy, and Shenyang Institute of Automation in China, along with 6 domestic researchers and 5 student researchers, totaling 25 participants.
Through the conference, they discussed IT and bio technologies and held video meetings about smart farm technologies utilizing robotics and artificial intelligence.
Ko Nak-yong, the organizing committee chairman, said, "We held the conference with domestic IT researchers as well as overseas researchers to have more research case analyses and time for various major convergences," adding, "Through this, we will strive to develop technologies that can be used in smart farms by converging IT and bio technologies."
Kim Jang-ho, head of the BK project at Chonnam National University, stated, "We will continue to hold international academic conferences to promote the convergence of IT technologies including artificial intelligence and agricultural technologies for sustainable agricultural development."
