The Election Commission "Abolishes Policy Promotion Banners... Responding to Environmental Issues"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] The National Election Commission announced on the 30th that it will discontinue promotional activities using street banners from the second half of this year in order to proactively and actively respond to environmental issues.
It has been continuously pointed out that these banners cause environmental pollution due to difficulties in recycling and the generation of harmful substances when disposed of.
The posting of approximately 19,500 general policy promotion banners as of last year will be stopped. However, banners essential for voters to exercise their election rights, such as polling station guidance, will be maintained.
