According to health authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments, a total of 1,133 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed from midnight to 6 p.m. on that day. The decrease in confirmed cases is analyzed to be due to a reduction in testing during the weekend and holidays.

By city and province, there were 380 in Seoul, 266 in Gyeonggi, 76 in Daegu, 57 each in Busan and Chungnam, 56 in Incheon, 47 in Gyeongnam, 40 in Gyeongbuk, 34 in Chungbuk, 25 in Gwangju, 24 in Daejeon, 22 in Gangwon, 15 in Jeonnam, 12 in Jeju, 11 in Jeonbuk, 8 in Ulsan, and 3 in Sejong.
The fourth wave, which began in early last month centered on the Seoul metropolitan area, has recently spread to various non-metropolitan regions, showing a nationwide trend. The daily number of confirmed cases has remained in the four digits for 54 consecutive days since August 7th (1,211 cases).
