[2022 Early Admission] Sungkyunkwan University Allows Duplicate Applications for Different Divisions and Departments
Sungkyunkwan University will select 2,161 students, accounting for 59.9% of the 2022 academic year admission quota, through early admission. Although the proportion of early admission has decreased due to the expansion of regular admission, a new Student Record Academic Achievement Screening has been established. With the reorganization of the College of Pharmacy into a 6-year program, 70 freshmen will be selected through early admission. The number of students selected by each screening type is △Comprehensive Student Record Screening 1,340 △Student Record Academic Achievement Screening 361 △Essay Excellence Screening 357 △Arts and Physical Education Special Talent and Practical Skills Screening 103.
The newly established Student Record Academic Achievement Screening is open to those who are expected to graduate from high school in 2022 and have at least five semesters of academic grades recorded in their student records, and who have received a recommendation from the principal of their high school. Evaluation is based 100% on student record academic grades, and there is a minimum CSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) requirement. Common subjects and general elective subjects are quantitatively evaluated and reflected at 80%, while career elective subjects and specialized subjects are qualitatively evaluated and reflected at 20%.
The largest screening type, Comprehensive Student Record Screening, is divided into △Departmental Screening (330) △Major Screening (757) △Equal Opportunity Screening (60) △Special Screening Outside Quota (193). Sungkyunkwan University requires applicants to select their desired recruitment unit and then choose the screening type that includes that unit. If the screening types differ, such as Departmental Screening and Major Screening, multiple applications are allowed. Neither Departmental Screening nor Major Screening applies minimum CSAT requirements or mandatory CSAT subject areas.
Departmental Screening selects students from five recruitment units: Humanities and Sciences, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering, and the School of Global Convergence, allowing sufficient time for major exploration in the first year and entry into the department unit in the second year. Departmental Screening is based 100% on documents (student records and self-introduction letters).

Major Screening selects students based 100% on documents except for six recruitment units (Pre-Medicine, Education, Chinese Character Education, Mathematics Education, Computer Education, Sports Science), which conduct interviews. For these six units, in the first stage, about three times the number of candidates are selected based on total scores from document evaluation 100%, and in the second stage, final successful candidates are selected based on total scores combining the first stage documents (80%) and interviews (20%). Major Screening recruits by major reservation system and by department/major units.
