1777 Gwangju-Jeonnam University Students and Youth Declare Support for Former Prime Minister Jeong Seyeon
"Economic, Fairness, and Decentralized Autonomy: President's Top Leadership and Ultimate Competitiveness in the Main Election"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Former Prime Minister and Democratic Party presidential candidate Jeong Seyeon received support from 1,777 university students and youth from Gwangju and Jeonnam.
On the morning of the 26th, they held a press conference at the Gwangju Metropolitan Council and declared their support, stating, "Candidate Jeong Seyeon is the most competent candidate who possesses presidential leadership in economy, fairness, and decentralization to overcome the economic crisis, fairness crisis, and decentralization crisis. He has overwhelming support from the moderate faction and is the only candidate who can achieve regime re-creation."
They continued, "Candidate Jeong is the candidate of the Democratic forces' grand coalition under President Moon Jae-in and the candidate of the nationwide regional coalition. He is the candidate for national balanced development and decentralization policies of the democratic government and the candidate who dramatically rose to first place in the first primary region, the Daejeon-Chungnam area," they evaluated.
They also appealed for new attention and strategic voting for Candidate Jeong.
The youth stated, "Candidate Jeong is a Korea-US trade, real economy, and international economy expert; former Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy with $300 billion in exports; Chairman of the Materials, Parts, and Equipment Economic Development Committee; Chairman of the Tripartite Commission; and a scholar with degrees in business and public administration from the United States, possessing the richest experience as a national administrator." They emphasized, "He has the best presidential leadership to overcome the economic crisis, fairness crisis, and decentralization crisis, realizing national wealth creation, job creation, and economic revival, eradicating privilege, cheating, unfairness, and inequality, and achieving decentralization and national balanced development. He is the strongest candidate in the final competition to gain overwhelming support from the moderate faction and to recreate the regime."
They added, "He is the only legitimate democratic candidate standing at the center of the Democratic forces' grand coalition, succeeding the Kim Dae-jung, Roh Moo-hyun, and Moon Jae-in administrations, having passed the qualification exam, served as student council president during student movements, and won in the difficult Jongno district as an opposition candidate." They stressed, "He was appointed by President Kim Dae-jung, promoted by former President Roh Moo-hyun, and at the time of Roh’s passing, he prevented oppression of the opposition and achieved opposition victory, making him the heart of the Democratic forces' grand coalition."
Furthermore, they said, "The Democratic forces' grand coalition will creatively inherit the national balanced development and decentralization policies of all past democratic governments and will also unify with regional coalitions such as the Chungcheong and Gangwon areas with primary candidates." They emphasized, "After dramatically taking first place in the early primaries of the Daejeon-Chungnam, Sejong-Chungbuk, and Gangwon areas, he will receive strategic support in the Gwangju-Jeonnam area and form a dominant trend."
