Dongyang University Decides Not to Hold Disciplinary Committee Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Jeong Gyeongshim, a professor at Dongyang University and wife of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk, will be dismissed at the end of this month.
On the 26th, Dongyang University announced that it recently held a board of directors meeting and a personnel committee meeting, deciding to dismiss Professor Jeong effective on the 31st of this month.
Professor Jeong, who is currently detained, is on leave, and her leave period expires at the end of this month. Dongyang University concluded to dismiss her as she did not apply for an extension.
Dongyang University explained that typically, an extension application is submitted one month before the leave expires, but Professor Jeong has not applied for an extension so far. According to the Private School Act, if the leave period ends and the person does not return, dismissal is processed.
The personnel committee's decision is based on the assumption that Professor Jeong will not apply for an extension by the 31st. It is known that Dongyang University decided not to hold a disciplinary committee meeting regarding the dismissal.
