[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suhwan] The World Taekwondo Federation (WT) demonstration team advanced to the semifinals of the popular American NBC audition program "America's Got Talent" through overwhelming votes from local viewers.
USA Today reported on the 25th (local time) that the demonstration team under the World Taekwondo Federation advanced to the semifinals of America's Got Talent.
At the America's Got Talent quarterfinals held the previous day at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, the federation demonstration team, performing last among 12 teams, presented a performance lasting about three minutes with the theme that modern people living in rapidly changing civilizations strive to build a peaceful world and a better society based on the spirit of Taekwondo.
The audience gave a standing ovation to the federation demonstration team after the performance.
Judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel gave a standing ovation along with the audience after the performance and praised it as "the best performance of the day."
The judges expressed amazement, saying, "If the demonstration team performs in Las Vegas, we would not hesitate to buy tickets," and "Marvel movie heroes rely on computer graphics, but the demonstration team is real."
The voting results were announced live the next morning on the 25th at the same venue.
The demonstration team proudly ranked within the top five in the voting, automatically advancing to the semifinals.
All judges applauded the demonstration team's advancement to the semifinals as a well-deserved result.
Previously, the federation demonstration team appeared on "Italia's Got Talent" in January 2020, received the Golden Buzzer, and advanced to the finals. After watching the video, America's Got Talent repeatedly invited them to participate in this spring's audition.
The demonstration team received the Golden Buzzer from the host and directly advanced to the quarterfinals.
