Incheon City Issues Administrative Order for COVID-19 Testing at Foreign-Employee Workplaces in Industrial Complexes
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City announced on the 25th that it has issued an emergency administrative order requiring workers at workplaces employing foreign workers within industrial complexes to undergo COVID-19 diagnostic testing.
Accordingly, employers and workers at foreign worker employment sites within industrial complexes in Incheon must undergo testing by September 6, regardless of vaccination status.
However, those who have undergone COVID-19 diagnostic testing after August 16 are exempt from this administrative order.
Employers and workers who fail to comply with the administrative order may be fined up to 2 million KRW under the "Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act." In particular, compensation claims may be filed for quarantine costs incurred due to infections resulting from violations of the order.
Incheon City issued the administrative order as a preemptive measure following recent cluster infections of COVID-19 at foreign worker employment sites within industrial complexes.
