On this day, Mayor Song comforted the victims in the eastern area of Samcheonpo who suffered flood damage and promised to concentrate administrative power for a swift recovery.
He also urged the responsible officials to do their utmost to minimize residents' inconveniences by promptly carrying out emergency restoration and quickly implementing permanent measures.
Due to this typhoon, a record heavy rain of 76.5 mm per hour fell in Seongu-dong and 135 mm over two hours in the eastern area. The typhoon's landfall time coincided with high tide, causing flooding damage to some houses and stores in the low-lying areas of Samcheonpo Port.
The city plans to mobilize military personnel by requesting support from army units, as well as deploying as many public officials and garbage trucks as possible for rapid restoration of damaged houses and stores.
