Chuncheon-si Announces 'Public Wi-Fi Activation Ordinance'
Poetry, Expected to Save 2 Billion Won in Citizens' Communication Costs This Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Chuncheon City announced on the 23rd that it has recently promulgated the "Ordinance on the Provision and Activation of Public Wi-Fi in Chuncheon City."
The main contents of the ordinance include ▲ the city government's responsibility for activating public Wi-Fi and providing convenience to users ▲ establishment of basic and implementation plans for public Wi-Fi ▲ installation and operation of an integrated management center ▲ stable quality management, security, and personal information protection.
The city currently operates public Wi-Fi at 614 locations, with 430,000 users as of August this year.
In addition, it plans to install 39 public Wi-Fi units at 31 additional public places and is building public Wi-Fi on 9 city buses.
Furthermore, the city will continuously replace outdated equipment and attach new signboards to ensure visibility in areas where free Wi-Fi is available.

Lee Gyu-il, Director of the Information and Communication Division, said, "With the enactment of this ordinance, we will create a communication environment where Chuncheon citizens and tourists can use Wi-Fi anywhere."
