"Stop the Spread of COVID-19" Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Operates Mobile Screening Clinics
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangsan District, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Samho) announced on the 22nd that it will install and operate a mobile screening clinic in Suwan District to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection.
Recently, confirmed cases have been increasing due to Nth infections among young people in their 20s and 30s and within families.
The district judged that it is urgent to prevent further spread and decided to set up a mobile screening clinic in Suwan District, where many confirmed patients’ movement routes have occurred.
The mobile screening clinic was installed in the parking lot on the first floor of Suwan Culture and Sports Center (11, Wangbeodeul-ro 132beon-gil, Gwangsan-gu), which has a large parking space and can accommodate many people, and began full operation from the previous day.
It is scheduled to operate daily from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. for 14 days until the 3rd of next month.
Twelve personnel have been assigned to the mobile screening clinic. Anyone, including close contact family members, visitors to confirmed patients’ movement routes, and general citizens, can visit and receive COVID-19 diagnostic tests.
A Gwangsan District official said, “We will confirm infection status through rapid testing to break the chain of COVID-19 spread.”
Considering that 30% of confirmed cases in Gwangsan District over the past 10 days were foreigners, proactive vaccination targeting foreign residents in the district (including undocumented foreigners) will also be promoted.
After identifying eligible individuals, a plan to use the Janssen vaccine, which can be completed with a single dose, is under review. Vaccinations are expected to begin as early as next month.
Meanwhile, on the 20th, Gwangsan District Mayor Kim Samho issued a statement appealing for citizens’ active participation, including compliance with quarantine rules, saying, “We will devote all our capabilities to blocking the spread of COVID-19.”
