Seoul Reports 499 New COVID-19 Cases, 11 More Than a Week Ago

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced on the 22nd that the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases in Seoul was finally tallied at 499 for the day of the 21st.
The provisional count as of 9 PM on the 21st was announced as 505, but the final count, after adjusting for duplicate counts, was lower.
Among the new confirmed cases in Seoul on the 21st, 493 were domestic infections and 6 were imported cases. This is 27 fewer than the 526 cases reported the previous day (20th) and 11 more than the 488 cases reported a week earlier (14th).
The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul had maintained the 500s until the 20th, except for the three-day holiday period from the 14th to the 16th, after setting a record high of 660 cases on the 10th of this month. On the 21st, the number again approached 500, indicating that the spread is not subsiding easily.

As of midnight on the 22nd, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Seoul stands at 74,749. Currently, 9,380 people are in isolation and treatment, while 64,798 have been declared recovered and released from isolation. The number of COVID-19 deaths in Seoul increased by 4 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 571.
