971 cases in the Seoul metropolitan area, 511 cases in non-metropolitan areas confirmed
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] On the weekend of the 21st, the number of COVID-19 tests decreased, but confirmed cases continued nationwide.
According to the quarantine authorities and local governments including Seoul, from midnight to 9 p.m. on that day, a total of 1,482 new confirmed cases tested positive for COVID-19.
This is 271 fewer than the 1,753 cases recorded at the same time the previous day. Compared to the 1,722 cases recorded at 9 p.m. last Saturday (the 14th), it is 240 fewer.
Looking at the regions where confirmed cases occurred that day, the metropolitan area accounted for 971 cases (65.5%), and non-metropolitan areas accounted for 511 cases (34.5%).
By city and province, Seoul had 505 cases, Gyeonggi 400, Busan 92, Incheon 66, Gyeongnam 53, Jeju 60, Daegu and Gyeongbuk each 50, Chungnam 48, Chungbuk 38, Ulsan 36, Daejeon 23, Gwangju 22, Jeonbuk 18, Gangwon 13, and Jeonnam 8.
The number of new confirmed cases to be announced as of midnight on the 22nd is expected to increase to around 1,600. On the previous day, 127 cases were added after 9 p.m., closing at a final count of 1,880.
New cluster infections occurred linked to performance practice rooms, construction sites, nursing hospitals, homeschooling, and gatherings of foreign acquaintances.
Regarding the performance practice room in Seocho-gu, Seoul, a total of 12 infections have occurred since the 15th, and in homeschooling in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, a total of 16 infections have occurred since the 17th.

In Busan, 118 new cases were confirmed from the afternoon of the previous day to the morning of that day, including 9 cases related to an indoor sports facility in Haeundae-gu and 7 additional positive cases at a bathhouse in Yeonje-gu.
