'2021 Excellent Seoul Stay' 20 Locations Selected... Competition Rate Exceeds 4 to 1
Up to 2 Million KRW Support per Selected Accommodation, Expecting Qualitative Growth in Alternative Lodging Industry
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Foundation announced on the 23rd that they have selected 20 locations as the final winners of the ‘2021 Excellent Seoul Stay’ contest to revitalize the lodging industry and support qualitative growth.
This year marked the first time the Excellent Seoul Stay selection was held to differentiate from other businesses and provide practical benefits to businesses amid the prolonged COVID-19 situation. From June 30, for about a month, applications were accepted from accommodations registered in Seoul under foreign tourist city lodging businesses and Hanok experience businesses, specifically those registered as ‘Seoul Stay’ accommodations. A total of 84 locations applied, recording a competition rate of over 4 to 1.
The 20 final selected locations will receive up to 2 million KRW per business in support funds and various benefits such as SNS promotion. The support funds can be used within a broad range related to the project, including promotional marketing, interior renovation, and quarantine costs. Additionally, the selected accommodations will be awarded the ‘2021 Excellent Seoul Stay’ certification plaque.
Furthermore, the ‘Excellent Seoul Stay’ accommodations will be promoted through Seoul Stay’s SNS channels, and during the second half of the year, the selected accommodations will be shared as exemplary cases at the Seoul Stay Academy. Continuous support will be provided, including branding support through discovering operator stories.
