Government: "Payment of National Support Fund Requires Consultation with Health Authorities... Decision to be Made Later"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The government announced that the timing of the National Support Fund payment will be decided later after consultation with health authorities. Preparations for the future payment are expected to be completed by the end of this month.
On the 20th, Ando Geol, Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance, held a fiscal management inspection meeting at the Government Seoul Office and said, "Considering the quarantine situation, the Win-Win National Support Fund (8.6 trillion won) and the Win-Win Consumption Support Fund (700 billion won) will have their payment targets, usage locations, and other details finalized, and execution preparations such as system linkage will be completed by the end of August as much as possible. The payment timing will be decided later after consultation with the health authorities."
He added that the Hope Recovery Fund for small business owners will be paid over 90% before Chuseok, and an additional 100,000 won per person for low-income groups will be paid in a lump sum on the 24th.
Vice Minister Ahn also said, "Regarding other second supplementary budget projects such as quarantine reinforcement (3.4 trillion won) and employment and livelihood stabilization (2.3 trillion won), totaling 6 trillion won, we will check the execution plans and timing for each project and encourage all projects to be executed in a timely manner."
