Gurye-gun to Provide Additional 100,000 KRW National Support Fund to 2,200 Low-Income Households
Additional 100,000 KRW National Support Fund per Low-Income Individual
Support Fund to be Paid on the 24th, Additional Payment Scheduled by the 15th of Next Month
[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Jeollanam-do Gurye-gun (Governor Kim Soon-ho) announced on the 20th that it will provide an additional 100,000 KRW per person in national support funds to low-income groups whose livelihoods have become difficult due to COVID-19.
The support targets are about 2,200 low-income individuals, including basic livelihood security recipients, legally designated second-lowest income groups, and single-parent families receiving child-rearing support, who qualify before the 31st of this month.
This is paid separately from the government’s coexistence national support fund of 250,000 KRW per person, which is provided to citizens in the bottom 88% income bracket.
The payment amount is a one-time, temporary payment of 100,000 KRW per person.
Basic livelihood security recipients for living and housing benefits, second-lowest income disabled pension recipients, second-lowest income disabled (child) allowance recipients, and single-parent families receiving child-rearing support will receive the payment collectively into their existing welfare benefit accounts without a separate application.
However, basic livelihood recipients (medical and education) and second-lowest income households (copayment reduction and self-support) who require account verification must apply at the town or township office or go through an account verification process to receive the payment.
If delays occur due to account errors or inability to contact recipients, the payment will be confirmed and made by the 15th of next month.
Governor Kim Soon-ho said, “Amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, everyone is facing difficulties, but the hardships felt by low-income groups are even greater. I hope this additional national support fund for low-income groups will help alleviate the financial burden on vulnerable households.”
