KT Holds BGM Contest with Genie Music
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] KT announced on the 20th that it will hold the ‘Background Music Contest (hereinafter BGM Contest)’ in collaboration with Genie Music to discover talented emerging music artists as part of the ‘Y Artist Project.’
The Y Artist Project is a new cultural activity of KT’s MZ generation brand ‘Y.’ In line with Y’s slogan, ‘Y shining as it is,’ the project aims to discover emerging artists who are dedicated in their fields, spotlight them as ‘Y Artists,’ and collaborate with them to release productions in a series format.
The BGM Contest is held under four themes: trends among Generation Y, romance, healing, and travel. Artists who wish to participate can submit their original tracks from today until the 5th of next month by uploading them on the official Y website (up to 5 songs per person).
The total prize money is 30 million KRW, with 15 million KRW awarded to the grand prize winner, and 5 million KRW each to three artists selected in the top 4. The final selected tracks will be released as an album and distributed free of charge to customers through the Genie Music app and the official Y brand website.
In addition to the prize money, KT plans to support the Y Artists selected in the BGM Contest by producing artist commentary videos and promoting the artists through various online and offline channels to help them advance their careers.
The results of the BGM Contest will be decided through voting by KT’s university student marketers, ‘Young Futurists (YF).’ Reflecting the opinions of university students who frequently use BGM for video production, one song per theme will be selected, and the final grand prize song will be chosen based on customer votes and interviews from the top 4 tracks initially judged.
