[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the 19th, the Gwangju Nambu Police Station announced that it conducted a youth smoking guidance and harmful environment inspection in collaboration with the Nam-gu Multipurpose Gymnasium in Gwangju Metropolitan City to mark the start of the school term.
During the guidance and inspection, efforts were made to properly guide youths exposed to the dangers of indiscriminate smoking in areas with frequent resident complaints, such as PC rooms, cafes, convenience stores, and vacant lots, while actively educating smoking youths.
For general restaurants, PC rooms, convenience stores, and karaoke rooms, focused inspections were conducted on violations of the Youth Protection Act, including the sale of harmful substances such as alcohol and cigarettes, the attachment of harmful warning stickers, and compliance with youth entry hours.
Documents prohibiting the sale of alcohol and cigarettes to youths under 19 were distributed to encourage business owners to voluntarily comply with the Youth Protection Act.
A representative of the Nambu Police Station expressed gratitude to the Nam-gu Multipurpose Gymnasium officials who participated in the joint inspection for protecting youths, stating, "We will continue ongoing activities to create an environment where youths can grow up safely and healthily by protecting them from harmful environments and preventing smoking."
