Chungnam, Export Amount in the First Half of This Year 'Up 26% Compared to Last Year'
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The export value of the Chungnam region in the first half of this year increased by about 26% compared to the same period last year.
According to Chungnam Province and the Chungnam Economic Trend Analysis Center on the 20th, the export value of the top 10 export items in the Chungnam region from January to June was $39,278,814,000, an increase of 26.7% compared to the same period last year ($31,001,500,000).
This is attributed to the fact that the top 10 export items of Chungnam, such as semiconductors and petrochemicals, which slightly decreased last year due to the spread of COVID-19, turned to an export growth trend in the first half of this year.
Among the top 10 export items, semiconductors recorded $21,624,304,000 in the first half of this year, an increase of 20.7% compared to the previous year.
Also, automobile parts, which had been on a continuous decline since 2016, recorded $925,689,000 in the first half of this year, showing an increase rate of 135.1% compared to the previous year, playing a role in driving the overall export growth.
This is analyzed as the result of increased exports to the United States and Russia through new product development despite difficulties in exploring overseas markets due to COVID-19.
Semiconductor manufacturing equipment increased by $740,487,000 (89.3%) due to the expansion of global production facility investments in the semiconductor industry, and synthetic resin, which saw increased exports last year, recorded an export value of $1,220,751,000, a 50% increase this year.
Petroleum products achieved an export value of $3,296,500,000, a 58.7% increase compared to last year, although it has not yet reached pre-COVID-19 levels.
In addition, Chungnam supported the overall export growth trend with exports of petrochemical intermediate materials at $1,182,484,000 (33.3%↑), flat panel displays and sensors at $4,602,360,000 (29.3%↑), batteries and accumulators at $718,668,000 (21.5%↑), plastic products at $692,694,000 (17.3%↑), and computers at $4,277,001,000 (13.1%).
