Gyeonggi-do to Provide 142,000 Won Monthly to Young Workers... 'Laborer Account' Applications Open from the 24th
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is recruiting 6,000 participants for the 2nd round of the 'Gyeonggi Province Youth Worker Account' from August 24 to September 2.
The Gyeonggi Province Youth Worker Account is a program where participants maintain employment for two years and save 100,000 KRW monthly, while Gyeonggi Province supports with a monthly contribution of 142,000 KRW. This project aims to help young workers achieve early financial independence, providing a total of 5.8 million KRW after two years, including 4.8 million KRW in cash and 1 million KRW in local currency.
Applicants must be residents of Gyeonggi Province aged between 18 and 34 (as of the announcement date, August 17), with an income at or below 100% of the median income, classified as 'youth workers.' Part-time workers and self-employed individuals are also eligible to apply.
The accumulated funds can be used for housing costs, startup and operating funds, marriage expenses, education fees, loan repayments, or other purposes that promote personal skill development or improve quality of life.
Notably, starting from the 2nd recruitment, an additional 5-point bonus has been added for youth who are long-term overdue on student loans but are currently under installment repayment agreements, to protect youth from financial crises.
The recruitment announcement can be found on the Gyeonggi Provincial Government website under notices and announcements. For further details, inquiries can be made to the Youth Worker Account call center or the Gyeonggi Province call center.
The province will conduct document screening, check for duplicate participation in similar programs, and hold a selection committee meeting, with the final list of participants announced on October 15.
Applicants can individually check their selection status on the Youth Worker Account website.
Jung Hyun-ah, head of the Youth Welfare Policy Division of the province, stated, "This project is conducted to support young people who are working hard but facing difficulties in achieving economic independence due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic," adding, "We hope for as many youth workers as possible to apply."
