Gwangju City Begins AI Data Labeler Training This Year
Education for Creating Gwangju-type Digital Jobs, Targeting 1,000 People by the End of This Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Metropolitan City will conduct data labeling training for citizens.
This training was prepared to revitalize the data industry, which is the foundation of the artificial intelligence market, and to create Gwangju-type digital jobs.
The data labeling process is part of data preprocessing work that builds training data by attaching labels or annotations to collected text, voice, and image data so that computers can learn, and it is an essential step toward artificial intelligence.
It is a field that anyone can enter with simple training, and it is expected to be a great help as it can be the starting point for nurturing data industry personnel in Gwangju, an AI-centered city.
Last year, training was conducted from June to December, with a total of 586 people completing the training and 341 working as data labelers.
This year, starting with training by IMR Co., Ltd. on the 27th, it is scheduled to be held at the Gwangju AI Startup Camp for a total of 1,000 people until the end of December, and participants can complete the course by taking an average of 4 to 8 hours depending on the individual training program.
Participants who complete the training will participate in data processing tasks for companies carrying out the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency (NIA)’s ‘2021 Artificial Intelligence Training Data Construction Project’ and will be provided with digital jobs (1 to 3 months) such as telecommuting or on-site work for project execution.
Participants can apply from the 20th through the citizen informatization education section in the communication and participation area on the city’s homepage.
Meanwhile, since March, Gwangju City has been preparing for the Ministry of Science and ICT’s Data Dam construction contest project with local companies and has planned to create Gwangju-type digital jobs through data labelers.
Gwangju City aims to train 1,000 people this year to make the demand for data labeling personnel required for the data construction project a Gwangju-type digital New Deal that citizens can feel.
Also, Testworks Co., Ltd., which signed a business agreement with Gwangju City in June, plans to conduct AI data processing training (scheduled from September to November) linked with internships for five people with developmental disabilities in the Gwangju area in cooperation with the Gwangju Developmental Disability Support Center, striving to support vulnerable groups in employment in the 4th industrial era.
