Jeongeup-si to Provide Additional 100,000 Won National Support Fund for Low-Income Households
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province (Mayor Yoo Jin-seop) announced on the 18th that it will provide additional national support funds to low-income households to alleviate their financial burdens caused by COVID-19.
The additional national support fund for low-income households is a support fund provided separately from the 5th disaster relief fund, reflected in the government's 2nd supplementary budget, and will be fully funded by the national government.
The eligible recipients are basic livelihood security recipients, legally designated second-lowest income groups, and single-parent families eligible for child-rearing support who qualified before the 31st of this month. It is estimated that about 12,000 people in the Jeongeup area will benefit.
The payment amount is 100,000 KRW per person, paid once on a temporary basis. Basic livelihood security recipients of living and housing benefits, second-lowest income disabled pension recipients, second-lowest income disabled (child) allowance recipients, and single-parent families receiving child-rearing support will receive the payment collectively into their existing welfare benefit accounts without a separate application.
However, those who need account verification, such as basic livelihood security medical and education benefits, second-lowest income self-pay reduction, second-lowest income self-support, and those subject to second-lowest income verification, must visit their local eup/myeon/dong community service center to apply.
The support funds are scheduled to be paid collectively on the 24th, and for those with account errors or newly designated legal low-income groups this month, additional payments are planned by the 15th of next month.
The city expects that this additional support fund will greatly help stabilize the lives of low-income households struggling due to COVID-19 and alleviate their financial burdens.
Mayor Yoo Jin-seop said, "I hope this will provide some help to low-income households facing difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation," and added, "We will focus administrative efforts to ensure no eligible recipients are missed."
