Yun Hojung: "Media Arbitration Act Referred to Agenda Committee as Requested by Opposition... Will Be Processed Swiftly"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Yoon Ho-jung, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, once again emphasized on the 18th that the amendment to the Media Arbitration Act will be "processed swiftly."
On that day, Floor Leader Yoon said at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly in the morning, "Although discussions have already been sufficiently conducted, our party actively pursued cooperation by submitting a new amendment in response to repeated opposition from the opposition party. However, the vote at the full meeting of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee was ultimately canceled, and the bill has been referred to the Agenda Adjustment Committee as requested by the opposition party." He added, "We hope the People Power Party will stop delaying any further and cooperate constructively." He also stated, "We will do our utmost to pass the Fake News Damage Relief Act."
At the same time, he demanded acceleration in the passage of the Sejong Assembly Hall bill. Floor Leader Yoon said, "Although the National Assembly Steering Committee was held yesterday, the Sejong Assembly Hall bill could not even be discussed due to opposition from the opposition party," adding, "The amendment to the National Assembly Act for the construction of the Sejong Assembly Hall is already an agreed matter between the ruling and opposition parties and is symbolically significant for balanced national development and the completion of the administrative capital." He continued, "Despite agreeing last year on 14.7 billion won for the Assembly Hall design costs, not a single won has been spent yet," and urged, "We hope the opposition party will take a magnanimous perspective and promptly agree on the legislative schedule."
