Intops "Hidalab Site Wins Main Prize at German Red Dot Design Award"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Intops announced on the 18th that its CMF specialized library site, Hidalab, won the main prize at the Red Dot Design Award 2021 in Germany.
The Red Dot Design Award is an event hosted by the Design Center of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, and has been held annually since 1955 to select the best designs in three categories: product design, brand & communication design, and design concept. It is considered one of the world's top three design awards alongside Germany's iF (International Forum Design) and the USA's IDEA (International Design Excellence Award). Winning works are exhibited at the Red Dot Design Museum.
In October last year, Intops launched the Hidalab site, a CMF specialized library, and established a CMF exhibition hall. CMF is a technical term referring to three important elements that designers consider when creating products: Color, Material, and Finish. Hidalab aims to propose trends in various materials and related process technologies to product designers and further provide services that can be applied to actual mass-produced products.
The Hidalab site offers convenience by digitizing various physical samples into an online database, allowing users to compare them on the CMF library page. The design emphasizes whitespace to help users focus on visual elements such as material, color, texture, and pattern, while boldly excluding auxiliary elements. Additionally, through filter searches, users can quickly and conveniently find CMF samples by selecting desired conditions, and samples of interest can be categorized, saved, and shared in their own library. The CMF detail page also provides similar CMFs and examples of mass-produced products, enabling a three-dimensional application in future product design work.

Geunha Kim, CEO of Intops, stated, “Collaborative projects are underway with clients and product designers from various domestic and international fields, and we are making great efforts to ensure these lead to actual mass production.” He emphasized, “As a product designer, it offers the advantage of quickly applying to real projects by receiving services that consider not only design but also mass producibility and product reliability.”
