Yongin City Issues 'Diagnostic Test Administrative Order' for Workplaces Employing One or More Foreign Workers
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province has issued an 'administrative order for diagnostic testing' targeting all individuals working at workplaces employing one or more foreign workers from the 18th to the 31st to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
This measure was taken based on the assessment that there is a high risk of spread, as confirmed cases have been occurring consecutively at apartment construction sites and manufacturing companies where foreigners are working.
The administrative order applies to workplaces with fewer than 100 employees located within the jurisdiction that employ one or more foreign workers. Individuals working at these workplaces must undergo COVID-19 diagnostic testing regardless of nationality or vaccination status.
Testing can be done at the nearest public health center screening clinics and temporary screening clinics. The testing is free of charge, and visitors must comply with quarantine rules such as wearing masks when visiting the testing sites.
Yongin City will encourage workers at each workplace to get tested immediately and will send disaster safety messages to ensure that undocumented foreign workers with unclear addresses can also receive testing.
If someone refuses to comply with the administrative order and is later confirmed positive for COVID-19, they may be fined up to 2 million won under the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act, and claims for quarantine costs may be filed.
