Seoul City Announces Recruitment of 20 'Seoul-style Public Landscape Architects' in 5 Fields Including Landscaping and Horticulture
Presenting Vision and Policy Directions for Park Green Spaces and Performing Various Roles Including Major Project Consultation
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 17th, Seoul City announced that it will publicly recruit the 5th term of 'Seoul-type Public Landscape Architects' until the 27th to enhance the quality of park green spaces and public spaces and to promote the development of park green spaces according to citizens' needs.
The Seoul-type Public Landscape Architect system is a system that involves outstanding experts active in the private sector in park green space policy to increase administrative expertise and plan urban environment designs tailored to regional characteristics, thereby enhancing the quality of public spaces.
The main roles of public landscape architects include advising on park green space vision, policy direction, and major projects; advising on the activation of park culture; advising on citizen participation and safety management in park green spaces; and advising on park green space facilities and design.
As the term of the 4th term Seoul-type Public Landscape Architects, who have been active so far, expires in September, the 5th term Seoul-type Public Landscape Architects will be newly formed to work until September 2023.
The 5th term Seoul-type Public Landscape Architects will consist of a total of 60 members: 40 public landscape architects and 20 advisory members. Among them, 20 public landscape architects and 20 advisory members will be selected by a selection committee from existing members wishing to renew their terms and nominees recommended by academia, related institutions, and organizations, while the remaining 20 public landscape architects will be selected through this public recruitment.
The recruitment fields are a total of five areas: landscape architecture (planning/design), landscape architecture (construction), landscape architecture (plants/planting), horticulture, and forestry. Eligibility includes those who have held a position of assistant professor or higher related to the recruitment field at a university for more than three years; registered engineers who have worked for more than three years at a technical office for landscape architecture, horticulture, forestry, or natural environment management; those with a doctoral degree in landscape architecture, horticulture, forestry, or natural environment management with more than three years of research or practical experience, or a master's degree with more than nine years of research or practical experience; top-level technicians recognized under the Construction Technology Promotion Act; winners of public institution or international design competitions; or those with experience participating in the establishment and design process of comprehensive plans related to urban environmental design, meeting at least one of these requirements.
Applications can be submitted from the 18th to the 27th by filling out the application form and submission documents and submitting them directly to the Seoul City Park Green Space Policy Division, or by registered mail or email.
