The COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team (Promotion Team) announced that the 400,000 doses of the Janssen vaccine arrived at Incheon International Airport at approximately 12:47 PM on the same day via FedEx cargo flight FX5132 from Memphis, USA.
The U.S. Embassy in Korea also stated in a press release the previous day, "As part of the international partnership to fight the COVID pandemic, the United States is providing 400,000 doses of the Janssen vaccine for the general public to South Korea, a close ally and partner."
Previously, the U.S. government had provided 1,012,800 doses of the Janssen vaccine to strengthen cooperation in the vaccine sector as an allied country.
All vaccines arriving on this day are products of Catalent. Of the 400,000 doses, 372,000 doses have an expiration date in mid-December, and 28,000 doses expire by September 20.
The government plans to provide a total of 500,000 doses, combining the 400,000 doses that arrived this time and 100,000 doses of directly contracted Janssen vaccines that arrived on the 29th of last month, to vulnerable groups starting from the 23rd.
