Gwangju Seo-gu Holds Launch Ceremony for 'Pungamgol Clean Shopping District' Initiative

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) held a launch ceremony for the creation of Clean Shopping Districts at the Pungam-dong Administrative Welfare Center on the 12th.

According to Seo-gu on the 13th, the Clean Shopping District creation project has been promoted mainly by the Pungam-dong Residents' Autonomy Association (Chairman Jin Yong-gyeong) and was prepared to raise residents' interest and awareness in making a clean neighborhood.

Through this campaign, Seo-gu aims to induce shopping district participation for the establishment of an autonomous and sustainable cleanliness culture, improve the village image by creating pleasant and clean streets, and revitalize the local commercial district.

About 30 people, including Seo Dae-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu, city and district council members, and the chairman and members of the residents' autonomy association, attended the launch ceremony held at the entrance of the Pungam-dong Administrative Welfare Center.

The launch ceremony proceeded with a brief report on the progress and future plans of the Clean Shopping District creation project, followed by a resolution for voluntary practice, and then the participants directly visited nearby shopping districts to promote the campaign.

The chairman and members of the residents' autonomy association distributed Clean Shopping District broom sets, fans, and flyers made to encourage voluntary cleaning in front of the shops, urging shop owners to participate.

Chairman Jin Yong-gyeong said, "We plan to regularly promote the Clean Shopping District campaign in the future," adding, "We hope that the campaign will create clean streets and somewhat revitalize the shopping districts that have been stagnant due to COVID-19."
